Dr. Eugene G Breen

Biography

Dr Breen has worked as a consultant psychiatrist in the Mater community sector since 2003. Prior to that, he worked in Balbriggan as a consultant psychiatrist. He qualified from University College Galway and subsequently worked in internal medicine for more than 10 years before specialising in psychiatry. His interests include psychopharmacology and the medical health of patients with psychiatric illness. He has published in international journals on these topics. He feels strongly about natural justice and advocates for parity of psychiatry with other specialties. This should be manifest in budgets and services for patients with mental illness. On a lighter note, he is a keen golfer and probably has the fastest club head speed in the psychiatric service if not the hospital!
